CRUEL INTENTIONS: The new series on Prime Video!

A remake of the 1999 film, Cruel Intentions has finally been adapted into a TV series by Prime Video, following the original film series and the 2014 TV movie.

The series, just like the original film, is based on the epistolary novel Les Liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, recounting the story of two characters engaging in a sort of bet for their own egos, leading them into a downward spiral.

Cruel Intentions (2024) takes us on a journey between betrayals and sexual tension, where characters from the bourgeois class love and hate each other, caught in power struggles and appearances.

The new series follows the plot of the original 1999 film, with the characters adapted to a time even closer to our own, which allows for more identification and an update of certain themes. However, none of the protagonists have lost their appeal, and we eagerly await the next episode. Whether you’re familiar with the original film or not, the episodes grab you with their high-quality direction.

The actors take their roles to heart, and we even had the chance to interview Sara Silva (Cece) and Sean Patrick Thomas (Hank Chadwick); everyone is fully committed and knows how to make us love or hate them. Though the acting can sometimes be over the top or exaggerated, we are still in a teen series with classic tropes.

Cruel Intentions may remind some of Saltburn (2023), with its games of seduction and manipulation, as well as its prestigious, private school setting. While Jacob Elordi isn’t here to dazzle us, the cast still manages to make us blush, with each character more charming than the last, whether we love or despise them

Cruel Intentions is therefore a remake that truly deserves its place on our screens, pulling us into power games and sex, across 8 episodes that will feel like they last only a minute. It’s available on Prime Video now, and we highly recommend it.
