One Of Us Is Lying, a Teen Drama series to watch!
This adaptation of the best-selling novel by Karen M. McManus is a perfect mix between Breakfast Club, Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl. Whether you’ve read the book or not, it’s an entertaining and intriguing series based around the mysterious death of a high school student.
What is it about?
If you haven’t read the book, we follow five high school students who find themselves in detention together. However, only four of them will come out alive… And so begins an investigation into Simon’s murder. Who killed him? Why did he do it? What secrets were the other students hiding? While the clues lead us to believe that the murderer was also in detention at the time, the four students are ready to do anything to prove their innocence.
A successful adaptation!
Although it’s been several years since I read the book, and I don’t remember it in detail, this adaptation is for me a success. I would even say that I preferred the series to the book. The atmosphere of the series is very marked from the first episode, an episode directed by Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon A Time, House…). Moreover, the characters are endearing with a rather successful casting, some you may know from previous projects such as Sara Thompson (The 100) and Barrett Carnahan (Cruel Summer). Some of them are even a little more developed than in the books, especially Maeve, Bronwyn Rojas’ sister.
Why should you watch it?
In addition to a nice atmosphere and characters, the story develops as the episodes go on and takes us away quickly. When I reached episode 3, I was totally hooked, and I just wanted to keep watching. And with an ending like that, I strongly hope for a season 2. This first season was for me very successful, I probably wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s the best series I’ve seen, but it’s still entertaining and interesting. If you liked the mystery side of Pretty Little Liars and the social media side of Gossip Girl mixed with the drama of a teenage high school life, then this show is perfect for you. Let’s hope it hits the streaming platforms internationally soon.
Meet Melissa Collazo as Maeve Rojas!
We had the opportunity to talk with the wonderful Melissa Collazo who plays the role of Maeve, Bronwyn’s little sister. She talks to us about the show, her role in the show and the future of her character but also about her experience on the set of the first episode with Jennifer Morrison as a director! Maeve was for me a character that I loved, although her role remains secondary, it is impossible not to appreciate it! Watch our interview with Melissa and don’t hesitate to subscribe to our YouTube channel, because this won’t be the last video with Melissa…
