‘Red, White & Royal Blue’: Our opinion on the new Amazon Prime movie!
If you were delighted by the second season of “Heartstopper”, released earlier this month on Netflix, you’ll certainly be delighted by ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’, the new film from Prime Video. The SoundsOfSeries team had the opportunity to preview the film, and here is our take on it.
Casey McQuiston’s Red, White and Royal Blue (or My Dear F***ing Prince in French) is Prime Video’s latest literary adaptation. Available on the platform on August 11, the film looks set to be as successful, if not more so, than the original book.
THE SUMMARY OF THE MOVIE:
It all starts with a scandal involving the son of the President of the United States and the Prince of England. After an altercation, the two men find themselves forced to team up to preserve their public image. Despite their past rivalry, a love story gradually develops between them. As is also the case in ‘Young Royals’, it is hard to come to terms with your homosexuality when you’re the son of a king. However, their relationship, almost inadvertently, becomes deeply serious and complex.
OUR OPINION ON THE MOVIE:
The team is unanimous in saying that this film is a real nugget! Whether fans of the books or newcomers discovering the story through the film, everyone was won over. The plot and characters are extremely engaging. Taylor Zakhar Perez (as Alex Claremont-Diaz) and Nicholas Galitzine (as Prince Henry) embody their characters to perfection. The transitions between scenes are fluid, and boredom is totally absent. The film offers some superb scenes, particularly the one in the museum, which we believe will leave a lasting impression and could become emblematic of the film… We can confidently say that ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ is destined for success similar to that of Netflix series such as ‘Heartstopper‘ or ‘Young Royals‘.
A SECOND MOVIE FOR RWRB?
Alex Claremont-Diaz and Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor’s story is based on a single-volume book. Whether or not a sequel is in the offing is difficult to confirm. However, given the success and enthusiasm generated by the film from the start of its promotion, it is plausible to hope for a collaboration between the author and the streaming platform. If a sequel was confirmed, be sure that we will be sure to keep you informed via our Twitter account.
