The year 2023 was marked by diverse programming on Netflix, offering series such as the second season of Shadow & Bone, the thriller The Night Agent, and the behind-the-scenes k-drama about influencers, Celebrity. In the spring of 1945, Jang Tae-sang, Gyeongseong’s wealthy tycoon, sees his world collapse when he is apprehended by the Japanese police and confronted with Commissioner Ishikawa’s ultimatum. To save everything he has, Tae-sang must find Ishikawa’s Korean mistress Myeong-ja before the cherry blossoms fall. Despite using all his resources, he reaches a dead end in his quest. However, his chance meeting with Yoon Chae-ok and his father, detectives searching for Chae-ok’s missing mother, leads them on an investigation that takes them to Ongseong Hospital, the center of suspicion. As they explore the hospital’s secrets, they discover a monstrous manifestation of human greed. In an age of darkness, their struggle for survival begins in earnest.

OUR OPINION ON THE SERIES :
After viewing the first seven episodes of the series, we can share our impressions. Although the first few episodes may seem long, the series becomes increasingly captivating as it develops. It’s really from the third episode onwards that attachment to the characters begins to form. The three adjectives that best define this series are dark, gory and horrific. The special effects are remarkable, bringing a realistic dimension to the whole. The plot introduces Vecna, evoking elements of “Stranger Things”, bloodthirsty and out of control. Our experience of the series has been very positive, although the beginning may not be as gripping as other k-dramas we’ve seen. We’re looking forward to the rest of the series, and the last three episodes promise to be breathtaking.
