‘CELEBRITY’: This week’s obsession!

We recently told you about the first episode of ‘Celebrity’, Netflix’s new Korean series. We literally devoured the series, and it is now time for our review.

THE SERIES IN A FEW LINES:

‘Celebrity’ plunges viewers into the world of influencers, a world filled with vices and people willing to do anything to achieve popularity. In this ruthless universe, fame, wealth and celebrity are the goals at all costs, even if this means using and betraying those around them. The series explores these themes throughout its 12 episodes, highlighting Seo A-ri’s rise to power, but also his dizzying fall. Because the world of influencers doesn’t always live up to expectations, and can turn out to be much darker than expected.

BETRAYAL, GLORY, REVENGE

These three words totally sum up the series. Seo A-ri, presumed dead, surprises everyone by launching a live on Instagram to tell her story. In it, she reveals the unethical, life-altering codes of cheating that make it possible to achieve success quickly. In this ruthless universe, the people around you are just a game, your actions are meticulously calculated and your friends are only there for your benefit. During this live show, the biggest secrets of the influencers who crossed Seo A-ri’s path will be revealed. However, one question remains: how can Seo A-ri, who is supposed to be dead, be live and responding to fans’ comments in real time?

A CAST THAT YOU SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH:

In the lead role of Seo A-ri, we find Park Gyuyoung, whom you may have seen in series such as ‘Sweet Home’ or even in an episode of ‘Squid Game’. She is accompanied by Chung-Ah Lee in the role of Yoon Shi-hyeon, the wife of Jin Tae-jeon played by Dong-geon Lee. Kang Min Hyuk is also part of the cast, playing Han Jun-kyung, an influencer who will play a crucial role in Seo A-ri’s life.
To bring authenticity to the series, director Kim Cheol-kyu called on real influencers for certain appearances. These include choreographer Aiki, YouTube star Risabae, artist Nana Youngrong Kim and Oh Jin-taek. This inclusion of real personalities reinforces the immersion and credibility of the series.

SHOULD YOU WATCH THIS?

Totally! We loved the series. If you’re a fan of this universe, you’ll devour the series. In fact, the ending hints at a sequel. Perhaps a second season for Celebrity? We’ll be sure to let you know on SoundsOfSeries!
